A citation-first public record of events that mark the erosion of democratic institutions and rights in India, from 1947 to the present, with a focus on the last decade. Each entry is source-backed and severity-rated.

The archive documents events; it doesn’t campaign. Summaries are written to be defensible to a reader who disagrees with our concern — plain description, attributed claims. The choice of what to document reflects a stated focus on democratic pressure, but each record stands on its sources. See the Methodology.

An event qualifies only if it represents a measurable stress on a democratic institution, right, or constitutional norm, and can be independently verified. Rumour and single-anonymous-source claims are excluded.

Where a freely-licensed image exists (largely Wikimedia Commons), it’s shown with a credit line. Where one doesn’t, a designed placeholder is used. Every record links out to independent reporting you can verify.

Yes. Records are living. Submit a correction or a new event through the Submit page — good-faith challenges backed by sources are reviewed through the same moderation queue every record passes.

No. Automated ingestion gathers candidate events into a moderation queue, but a human reviews and approves each one before it appears. Nothing is auto-published.

An independent effort to keep a durable, checkable record. The value is in the citations, not in anyone’s say-so — every claim links to its source.
